Being a huge fan of music, and a student of film, music videos should be something right up my alley. I've never really broke down a music video before, but I believe you have to watch the video multiple times, especially if it is bizarre, to fully understand it's message. It's interesting to watch what musician has to show in a music video, because for me, it is usually different than what the words are saying. Music videos are a very interesting form of art I would like to study more of.
Joel Trussell sounds like he is living the dream as an animator. He gets to be creative all day and drawl up new ideas...for money! He truly does what he loves, and that's the key to his success. He's done some animation shorts for Yo Gabba Gabba!, Family Guy art work, and even music videos. I found his work for "War Photographer" humorous and very awesome! They way he depicted the song to be a guitar battle between two rival viking ships was amusing to watch. And how it was shown "lame" to be a "band geek". I liked the Blood Sweat and Tears "Spinning Wheel" brass instrumental riff used in the song. The music video shows that "Marching Band" instruments are an essential key for "Rock 'N' Roll".
