First and foremost, I'm really excited for this class. I personally love music but have never really gotten into the concept of music videos, either in just watching them or going the next step and breaking them down into what the message behind them is conveying to its audience. It's crazy to me how much symbolism can be drawn from so many small details in various sequences of music videos, but also what the different prospectives of people can offer in insights and how the different views can feed off each other.
It was also pretty inspiring to read Joel Trussell's story. The saying "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life" repeatedly came to mind. It's pretty mind blowing how the internet and youtube contribute so largely to his fame, to think that if he was working at some point before the social media boom, he wouldn't have the popularity he has today because of the different ways the industry sees his work. It's gotta be a pretty cool experience to have disney, nickelodeon, and cartoon network calling just to see what you're working on. A guy making huge strides in his passion and career to provide for his family must definitely be a great motivator when waking up in the morning. Very cool story to read.
