Redeemed

I absolutely loved the I'm Alive music video we watched last week. It was funny and clever and I think it brought up an interesting version of redemption. I don't have a very high opinion of retirement homes. I've volunteered at many and they are just so lifeless and the people there seem so lonely and bored. I feel like they are often sent there to die (I know this isn't always thee case, sometimes you just can't physically keep taking care of a person, but more often than not). So watching this guy who was about to die just spring up and inject some life into the other residents and even infect his energy into the no nonsense nurses was very entertaining. There is a lot of ageism in this society that sorta makes us believe that old people are useless, stupid, and no fun. I've met so many older people, who might normally be in a retirement home, who still have that spark in them, that childlike fun, the urge to get up and dance, and this video really made me think about that.
