Music Videos & Joel Trussell

Watching and exploring music videos in class was a neat experience. I am a shy person in class so I don't always voice my opinion or thoughts and it was cool to see the videos and say things or find things that I saw in the music videos. Analyzing the videos was fun I enjoyed trying to look beyond the initial ideas and develop more thoughts and ideas from the artists original thought. I think this class will allow me to explore the world of digital media and then I'll be able to apply it to the world of performance theatre and corporate theatre.

When reading the Joel Trussell article I loved one of his beginning comments about music videos: “The worst thing about music videos is that they’re such an exercise in paranoia for me. All the time, I’m second-guessing myself, never sure what I’m doing. I work alone, so there’s nobody really to bounce ideas off of. You just have to convince yourself that you’re doing the right thing. This one may be the nail in the coffin for me, this Morcheeba video. But so far, I like the concept.”  I relate to this quote because being in the theatre as a stage manager you don't get told you're doing a great job you have to convince yourself that you're doing the right thing.
