The Impact of Facebook, Netflix, and Disney

In my generation's lifetime, we have experienced a large amount of change and revolution in the realm of technology and more specifically, social media platforms. Facebook has been the primary leader in this arena, as its social network has been widely adopted and pioneered many new technologies. I find it incredibly interesting how pervasive Facebook is in culture.

In almost every element of everyday life, I've noticed that social media is somehow at work. Whether it's businesses using social media to advertise, people using it to communicate with old friends, or viewers using it to enjoy original content from providers like Netflix, it seems that it has pervaded everything.

I have realized over the past few weeks that we are experiencing more technology and more exposure to the digital world than even the real world, if most of us are completely honest. And this thought frightens me deeply. I'll be the first to admit that my life relies heavily on electronics, texting, and computer usage. But I think that there is a deep problem with this, in that our generation is one of the first generations not to learn the art of conversation. We have deep-seated problems with face-to-face interaction because we have spent most of our leisure time staring at screens and manipulating digital electronics.
