(Elijah Robinson) The Epic History of Music Videos

I loved the experimental film with random dudes dancing and that pig wow look out barney your great, great Grandinosaur is going to haunt you, not sure what they were on when they made that, but they sure don't make em like they used to. (Already said Barney! Oh wait; maybe they're just as weird today.) The skeleton Disney Horror not safe for kids DEMONstration scared me to death when I first saw it years ago.

I was absolutely taken aback by the "Pink Floyd - GoodBye Blue Sky" video it was incredible how powerful the message could be seen through what was shown. If the makers of this wanted it to be clear, they accomplished what they set out to do. the scene where the bird claws up the ground reminded me of a style I'd seen in Princess Mononoke with the infected creatures. The gritty feeling and the overtly dark nature of the color palette makes you not want to live in a place like that.

I was very interested by the "A-ha - Take on me" rotoscoping concept. Disney also has scenes with rotoscoping for the animation of some old and newer hand drawn cartoons. But yes, the story did end strangely

Now we've come to the goods, it is absolutely hilarious that we can laugh and be amazed at the same time with a music video that has the catchy words of "HOLY EFFING CRAP DID THAT GUY JUST FEEL ME UP!"
The more modern ones like Carpark North, although I may be lost as to the meaning, what I took away was that living all of the flaws and learning that we lack oneness when we have to much sameness. Our individuality, though different makes us human.

My take on the history of music videos is that story through film has come a long way, though we may see some that have come and gone too far. We need to think about the ideas that made some of the old ones so good.
