(Elijah Robinson) Joel Trussell interview + intro by halftime 1/4back (so much Greg)
My name is Elijah Robinson,
The early-entry/ part time high school drawer of robots and transformers (same
thing you say) I want to work (or play) at ILM in Singapore. Joel Trussell's
main point I think is that it's a big world out there and it's our job as
animators, musicians or artists to show our favorite parts of it and make
everyone's world a little more like that. I too seem to find myself working
alone. Likewise, I find that looking at other artist’s creations also seems a
little intimidating. I could relate when he talks about a bubble bursting and
people discovering he does not belong with the cool kids. I did not see the war
photographer video in class to hear what everyone else thought. When I watched
it reminded me a lot of Samurai Jack and Fosters home for Imaginary Friends. I
thought when the two battling ships started with electric guitars; it was kind of
like they were at a standstill. But, then when the trumpets of color (which the
other Vikings see as geeky or "not rock and roll bro!") it takes
until the end for the other to realize that if they're going to be the best
they need all the aspects of they're musical weapons, even the not so cool
ones. He brings up fears being trapped doing something he doesn't care about, I
don't think anyone in any career thinks what they want to do will end up being
boring, but often if you're doing work that is typically enjoyable in a time
constraint and with rules about what you can and can't do, stuff gets old fast.
I don't think any work I've done has been made with any discernible meaning or
deep thought and the conclusion I get from what Joel says is that art and film
are very important because people do pay attention and read into what ever you
do. Particularly important because we want to reflect Christ with everything we
create and let the message be clear and present, but also entertaining.

There is a big difference between Cybertronians and robots but the average person can't tell. I'm glad to be not an average person~ ;)
