New age of the music video
It's been a couple years since I've watched MTV but when I was in or around the 5th grade and my brothers were in 7th and 9th grade, we would watch CMT or MTV music videos every morning from 7-8 while we ate breakfast and got ready to go to school. As my interests changed to sports and watching ESPN in the mornings throughout high school, music videos kind of lost my time. Looking at where both MTV and CMT have gone is kind of sad to me. To me, what used to be "the" channels for youth and music lovers all around to watch has become so saturated with bad reality TV (in my opinion all reality TV is pretty bad but teen mom and whatever else is showing is even more despicable). On the bright side of things music videos are more accessible now then ever before. Through youtube, Yahoo and AOL music and even iTunes; music videos have made great leaps in reaching the public in various ways. Although i think it's sad what's happened to music dedicated programming, the times have changed in how its seen.
