The weekday I selected was Tuesday, February 10, 2015 because I procrastinate and it was the last day to do it.  I was pleasantly surprised compared to at least my perception of others of how little I check social media.  It helps that I have probably only a third of the social media accounts of most millennials in just Instagram.  I noticed that it’s become a habit that in any point of not physically doing something, our society has programmed ourselves to pull out our smart phones and check something; whether that be social media, some news outlet, or playing a game.  I think the most common visual media I saw would be the big Under Armour sweatshirts with the logo plastered on the front, while I noticed clothing brands and iPhones the most among everything on campus. I would say Instagram is the most of all the content I expose myself too, but I don’t know that it really influences me in anyway.  I’m not sure I learned much about myself with this.  I remember seeing a study that people are incredibly insecure when their phone isn’t by their side, like to the point where not having their phone is more distracting then having it.  I’ve never had that problem, I leave my phone in my backpack or room when I do things that are more important to me, yesterday was actually an exception because I used my phone to log my media consumption.  Although specifically yesterday I don’t feel like media influenced me, I know that it does at different points in my life when I’m shopping, going to eat, or other various ways of spending money; but due to my extremely small college budget, I’ve gotten pretty practiced at not spending money (but I am getting good at the art of taking out loans).
