Summary

I chose Monday to do this Media Review. I chose this day because in an average week, I usually select Monday to be the day in which I get a large majority of the things I need to get done because I have the most free time to do so. I figured this would give a more accurate reading on how much media I usually interact with since I would be making myself busy for most of the day. The media I was exposed to the most by far was text messaging and phone applications.

I tend to use my phone the most out of any of my devices and I spend a large amount of time with it out of my day. I came into contact with a variety of advertisements that were in the video format mostly. Oftentimes they arrived through apps I was using at the time. I did not observe very many advertisements outside of electronic media. The most common media I came in contact with was definitely applications on my iPhone. This is because throughout the day, I employ the use of my devices very frequently to get things done.

I am noticing that the primary content I expose myself to is informative articles online or apps on my electronic devices. The form I expose myself to is often advertisements on my phone or even notifications from other apps. I find that I tend to use a plethora of apps throughout the day that I maybe don’t need to necessarily depend on, but do because each one advertises the next.

I can see that I am very heavily influenced by the media I consume to consume more media. It seems to be a trap, that when you download one app it just advertises other apps, which then, in turn, advertise still more apps.
