To be brutally honest, I found this article quite unhelpful. I wasn't sure what it was trying to do, because although it seemed to be trying to make a point, it didn't seem to strongly make that point. It needed to make itself more apparent in order to have been as funny as it could have been. I think that many college students should learn to practice "netiquette" better than they currently do, however, and I think that that is a more serious problem than the article seemed to suggest.
Addressing a professor by their first name or by a nickname is disrespectful. Therefore, using improper etiquette while using another platform carries over the same effect. We should not be using the fact that it is social media or the internet to justify rudeness or being overly short with others. We should carry over many of the social graces we use in real life.
