Humor/Violent Video Games

It's obvious from watching the videos in class that people have a different sense of humor. Another thing that was noted about the videos that we watched was the fact that humor has been popular in the media from the beginning of entertainment. There is something about humor that appeals to everyone and draws them in. It's the little things in life that we can laugh about together that brightens our day, which is probably why it's so popular.

I personally believe that the argument over if  if violence in video games actually causes the player to be more prone to violence themselves will never be a solved topic. There are studies done on both topics and yet they both claim that they are right based on their results. I personally believe that it all comes down to the maturity of the player in deciding if it has a negative effect at all. If a child is introduced to violence before he or she understands that this is not what is socially acceptable then it can be assumed that this might have an effect on their maturity and view on the subject. I have played COD, Halo, GTA, and a few other games that express violence and I honestly love playing these games. However, I would not allow any child to play these games until they have reached maturity. These games are rated "mature" for a reason. Therefore, the violent games shouldn't even be played by children in the first place.
