Body Image
It doesn't surprise me the the media is so influential on people about body image. Growing up I didn't feel self conscious until I hit 4th or 5th grade. Around then I started getting called ugly and my mom was body conscious because after 4 kids your body is not the same, so she went on diets to lose weight. I was never too worried about being fat but I always wanted to tone my muscles or lose any body fat I thought I had because that's how skinny the women on TV were. I was more surprised to hear about the male statistics about wanting to be skinnier. Although I see how more fit or more stylish guys have influenced boys as they are growing up. I currently am working on being healthier for me and being happy with my body no matter what I look like. It has taken several years and it will take many more but I want my children to have a good role model about their body image.
