Body Image
Sadly I'm wasn't at all surprised by hearing the statistics about how negatively the media effects us on body image. In my wellness class we went over very similar studies and the results were the same on how negatively we see ourselves. In the digital media age it's so easy to get obsessed with posting the perfect status, tweet, or selfie for the wrong reasons. I think so much of society has gotten away from finding worth in our relationships with God that we've fallen prey to believing the lie that whatever is out in the media is truth today. I never really thought about how shows on the disney channel influenced me at a younger age until now. Thinking back a decade or so, all of the guy actors I can remember were typically athletic or had some sort of flair to them. I also realize how much of a difference it can be for girls at that age for those kind of people to be their role models. It's a shame of how badly our society has gotten away from recognizing internal virtues as being the attractive qualities of a person.
